If you really need the lot, abandon the US spec system and replace with euro. Less parts, less cash, easier replacement in the future.

Same answer though, I believe you'll need square port, but you'll have to check with your mechanic, I wouldn't want it to be my fault if you ended up with the wrong ones. E bay can be good, I bought a whole engine for £450 complete with exchangers and exhaust. Most of the engine is now rbuilt as my 2.4. The exchangers would have been right for yours but I used the outer skins to repair some earlier original ones. However you do see good exchangers regularly on eBay.

  10. Do you need a kit. I would have thought the heat risers and control pods would be the same as whats on. Are they goosed. It think you need exchangers, silencer and the two risers up to the snail fan connection which some peeps just blank off. Exchangers are about 180 each at jk and a silencer, seem loads of 2nd hand ones on here but about 120. Id fit the risers for the fan personally. Oh yes youd need a fitting kit and exchanger to head gaskets. This is assuming yours has square exhaust ports. Then again all of the above do come up 2nd hand.

  11. yeah they're knackered, mechanic has had a look and says they have raised studs to the cyilnder head but the later ones have flat mounted that bolt directly ,mines a 78 thats a cross over year

  12. so are you saying yours are oval and not square as ovals are about the same price and just as readily available if not more so!

  13. For sure oval...
I searched hi and low for 3 or 4 months , than 3 sets i bought popped up here in germany in a matter of weeks .
Had to buy a front riser from kansas usa ,even , i was so desperate to finish
Patience pays off on these exchangers , they will pop up.,
dave has the 6/75 to 7/78 usa model . 3 hole flange Cj. 071 G. Heads
Those land marks are all early 78 .they were a planned pre order project.
    .Pretty sure about that ,
The main change was in August 1978 when the 2000cc engines had new cylinder heads and the heat exchangers were remodeled....
Daves chasis number is 2387175***. Third digit is the year .

  14. That will work but you will need to change all the rear exhausr pipes . You have a 3 flange traingular system. Not the longer / wider 3 hole. .but you can find them easy enough , put a post up. Rear exhaust etc. someones got one cheap...and the bracket to the engine supprt might be differnet ,not sure .
There are ,one on each side ,the brackets....

Frankly I find it ridiculous that your mechanic who knows what's needed has left it to you who knows bugger all to source the parts. I think you just bought 2 hxs and a load of bits you don't need and you still need a silencer and tailpipe plus fitting kit for same. Madness, no way I'd have left customer to guess what parts I needed!
