I take it the 5 connection relay on the bottom of the fuse box is the headlamp relay? Are they available from normal motor factors or is it a vw specific part?
Some VW ones are of naff quality, there was a spate of peeps buying new ones that either didn't work or flashed once and stopped working, got my last two from Megabug...both were good, but they should build them to work under water imho ;D
I'm cool dude, loving life at the mo, tottally given up the sherbet so as to help the missus, yeh...cool, just surfing the wave 8) And you ?
im cool bruv ...just waiting for the sunshine to start ,so i can get out of town for weekends away in the bus
Ive done some searching and phoning round and no ones got the relays in stock It seems theres a 5 week wait for them Vw main dealers could get me one for tmw but they want £47 plus the vat which is ridiculous for a relay Does anyone have a good working spare they will sell or loan me? If i cant get a second hand one im going to miss my free retest for the mot
Are you sure the relay has packed up and not just the connectors rusted up? Halfords do 5 pin relays, holden.co.uk do them too http://www.holden.co.uk/search.asp
para mine didn't work when i first got my bus it was rusty inside i left it soaking in wd40 and got a small bit of emery paper on the teminals and connectors and it is ok now
I'm sure Halfords do them, take your one and find one with the same markings on. In my local one they were with the fuses and wires etc.
Cheers guys I wonder why the guy at the motorfactos couldent match it? Maybe because he was just looking for numbers on the computer system Ill Have a drive to halfrauds and see what i can find
I think it's still worth a pop to Halfords if they aren't too far away...or I may be able to redeem myself if not... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VW-Camper-Headlamp-High-Beam-Relay-12V-NEW-/170735123141?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item27c09b3ac5
