I had literally zero interest in the whole affair until I saw that Piers Morgan is absolutely outraged. Now the couple have my full support
We will have to wait and see what decision is made about state financial support and future role but Harry and Meghan have said their wish is to be financially independent. Considering the amount of criticism the Royals get regarding free handouts from the state, I think their proposal should go down well with ordinary folks trying to make ends meet on their own.
I don't think I really care. If that's what they want to do, fair enough. Can't say I blame them - Harry was always 'the spare' and he's even further down the pecking order now, why not try for a more low key life, to bring up the kid(s)? Harry will always be a prince, and they'll always be a royal couple, ….and I doubt the scum press will leave them alone no matter what anyway. It has proved what a complete gutter-level sham, on the whole, our national newspapers are though. For the record, I have no great objection to the royal family: like it or not, they are a part of what makes this country what it is. Tourism, and foreign visitors, is a huge part of the country's income, and keeps a lot of folk in work. We have beautiful countryside, an astronomical amount of history (good and bad), architecture, archaeology, an incredible music scene, make great films, and so much more - but by and large, in our tourist industry, the royals feature heavily. I can't see this is going to bring them down.
The ‘Press’?? The print press is maybe 5% reach of what it had with Diana...people don’t buy newspapers. The ‘media’....that’s a different game with very few rules. If my mum had been killed in the way his was, and I’d become a dad I’m not sure I’d want that. Also, why spend the rest of your lives opening hospital wards and school gyms when you could be sat moralising the rest of humanity with your jet set mates drinking champers?
It doesn't matter what they do, the press, both in the UK and abroad, will want their pound of flesh. Cue moral outrage, republican calls to scrap the monarchy, etc. Yawn Even royals are entitled to a little privacy, respect and common decency. To paraphrase something I saw recently: Being black isn't a choice Being gay isn't a choice Being disabled isn't a choice I'll add that, being born into the royal family isn't a choice either Hate IS a choice

Doesn’t she have enough of her own money anyway. I’m sure he has and I’m pretty certain he and Will are in line for a fair share of Althorp estate and all that entails. I’m certain they aren’t going to Canada to sign on the rock n roll and visit food banks for their Christmas hamper. sorry my mistake Harry doesn’t inherit anything from Althorp.
