Gunk under oil filler

  1. So I think I found the problem after a longer run, the engine wasn't breathing properly as the breather pipe has a kink in it. My engine bay is splattered with oil and some must have come out the exhaust as the back of my van is splattered with tiny spots of oil. I guess the crankcase has pressurised and forced the oil past seals. Will this have caused any long term damage? I can correct the kink and the engine only lost a tiny bit of oil ImageUploadedByTapatalk1367908015.591547.jpg

  2. No no you are worrying needlessly. Just move the pipe over so its got a bit more air. Oil gets everywhere on these engines, the fan blows any oil all over the place. The Mayo under the cap used to be down to many things none of which are a problem. If you use modern Multigrade you generally always get that. Mine gets that everyone gets it , especailly during damp weather conditions etc.
Trust me dont worry be happy, just get used to the engine, keep a weekly check on your oil level, if the engine has just been rebuilt it will use a bit of oil until things wear in and settle. Keep it topped up and enjoy it. ;)

  3. Cheers Stan, I will replace the breather pipe with one with a formed bend in it so I get rid of the kink, looking at the kink in it, nothing would get past it.
