It's got the Ethernet connection all cabled up to my broadband router (I do have a dongle but no need for wifi in this case) but not finding a screen like that for the Bravia Internet Video page. To be honest, that's where I was expecting to find youtube, iplayer etc, but it's much 'older' looking with just the Sony Channel and about 4 other channels I've never heard of. Maybe it's just too old. Ah dammit, I sold my old Samsung S3. I wonder if it would work off a Galaxy Alpha?
Do Sony give you the option of downloading apps for other stuff? In the menu somewhere? Does seem daft - why have a smart tv if they don’t provide stuff you want? Our Panasonic is much the same.
I've got the 37 inch version of the same tv, Iv'e got a firestick and a chromecast on it. I have half a feeling the Ethernet port is for firmware updates it's not actually internet or smart enabled.
All this sounds really complicated! If your computer has a midi socket, just connect it to your tv with a midi cable and it should replicate your computer display on the tv. Well, mine does.
Picked up a Roku dongle thingy from Maplins the other day....was only around £30 and gets now tv/netflix and lots of other shyte....
Yes, you and @paneuropaul could be right on that one. I do have a Wi-fi dongle for it, but whether that’s any different I don’t know. @Pudelwagen sadly it’s not close enough to my pc to make connecting the two an option without miles of loose cabling. Might just see what ‘sticks’ are available. What’s Roku?
quick google says the short answer is No your tv is nto a smart tv. But if you get a firestick etc then it will work as one. if you are on amazon prime i would just go with a firestick.
although if you have the sony wifi dongle you might be able to get ot work that way and then update the tv http://sony-eur-eu-en-web--eur.cust...t-video-device-on-the-sony-essentials-website
