Getting a Corgi Engineer to inspect your bus

Discussion in 'General Discussion' started by Sir Arthur, Mar 25, 2013.

  1. Has anyone done this and what sort of price did they pay?

Ever since I had the Propex installed we've been getting a smell of gas when using the cooker, even though they run off separate bottles. So ventilation's a neccessity, but cooking with the rear hatch open offers the great opportunity to set one's curtains on fire! So I need someone more savvy than me (which to be fair would include children, dogs and above averagely intelligent pillar boxes) to take a look.

  2. Hi

Never had a corgi/gas safe engineer check. If you haven't already then check the regualtor/any joints aren't leaking.Smear some fairy liquid, other brands available, around the thread of the regulator etc and other joins in the gas line and look for bubbles. On some bottles I have had to use PTF tape when connecting the regulator.

    Hope this helps.

I'm getting mine checked over shortly because of a gas smell after some work I've had done - not sure of cost yet but when the guy gets back to me I'll ask him. I decided to have propex and cooker off the one cylinder but I'm not confident in the way it's been done :(
I just left a message - says ' Hello, you've reached Graham the Gas Man' so he must be good

I'm just doing it for peace of mind.

  10. I could have just said "a gas fitter", but then they'd be no dog, toy car or Lord Congi jokes.

Some big motor-home or caravan places may be your best bet

  15. ask JJ.if he fancies a bit of moonlighting at the next big meet, just ordered a vent to put in the floor, cos propane if heavier than air and sinks so if theres a vent it should sink through the hole. i heared this from a gas safe engineer, also when i fitted my propex o brought a can of leak detect you spray it on joints and, well i dont know cos i did n't have any leaks..

  16. Corgis are thick. A Border Collie would make a much better job of it...

When using ptf tape get the gas one its thicker.
I worked with a plumber who tested a gas cooker with his fag lighter once.

I spoke to my gasman when fitting the hob in the T5 as he was next door and he just said make sure you get a carbon-monoxide detector, its still on the to do list.

  18. The CM detector's already in place.
