Not read post so sorry, just about to go to bed but stephens engineering in ware (Hertford) are the business.

Might be a tad far for you though

  2. Slight change of subject but I have been helping a guy at work rebuild his 911 box (synchro gone between 5 and 6 ) anyway he has been recommended by Porsche specialist to use automatic gearbox oil as it has same shear properties but is thinner as gives a nicer / slicker gear change ???? I know Ricky mentioned this and wondered if anyone else has heard of it ?

I have read a few posts where it has been mentioned ATF has helped with the gear change.

ATF is *******-water, I wouldn't want it in my gearbox frankly, but I'm no expert.

It's strange but there are several modern cars out there like the Ford Focus that has ATF in its manual gearbox. Modern stuff does my head in.

As for ATF in a bus box I've never tried. Perhaps when I have no option with mine I may try. In the mean time I'd stick with what we know.
