I've got a couple of cans of alloy wheel lacquer. I like the shiny ali look too. Will that work OK? @nobody will the lacquer survive the parts washer?

  3. it should be ok and will keep it so shiny so chrome

I'd hate to steal your limelight in the gold brigade Snotty :D

  7. My MOT man went "Cor!" when he saw it under the bus. Made all that work worthwhile...

I'll take silver to your gold and hopefully get a similar reaction at my MoT :)

Snotty, how did you take the driveshaft flange's off?

  10. From memory, stabbed the centre caps and prised them out, removed the circlips, then used a small puller on the flanges. They didn't need much persuasion.

So you have to murder the centre caps?

    OK Bates!

Can you give me a link where I can get new ones?

  16. I beg to differ...

  17. Any of the usual suspects - think I got mine from Heritage. They come in an attractive turqouise colour, which sets off a gold box nicely (see above)

  18. No need to puncture them, just pray it off with flat screwdriver. You will also have dished washer under the circlip, dont loose them. Snotty gearbox is an early one (CA code) and does not have them - also early flanges are normally quite loose - yours more then likely will be tight and will put up the fight.
