Fuel tanks

  1. After I found a few perforations in my tank I picked up another off a guy on here.
Today I noticed that they're actually different!
The fuel sender is different and mine has an extra pipe at the top in the centre.

Does anyone know what the extra pipe is on the old one and i guess I'll need to buy a sender to suit the new one. Any ideas what year this is off?

    Old top..

  2. The extra pipe on your old one (is it blocked off?) may be the fuel return for an injected bus. Do you have fuel injection?

  3.   You don't know what it is... If I wasn't sat down, I think I would have to!! ;)

The extra pipe is the fuel filler breather, as found on bays with fuel filler flaps...

Unfortunately the new tank is wrong for your van, and the late sender won't work with an early gauge :(

  4. Well, b*gger me sideways...

I don't have much to do with this early stuff.

  5.

Everyday is a school day ;)

  6. Cool, thanks for the replies. I guess I'll tidy up the new one and sell it on then.

I was thinking about trying to solder / braze up the old tank and then lining it with that tanker sealer. I'm not sure how comfortable I'll be with it hidden away though..... I might give it a go.

    Cheers
