  1. Can these be repaired or shall I buy a new one. If the later, are the repros any good? image.jpg

  3. ^this. You'd have to rewind the pot on the old one, which would take you a thousand years.

  4. Looks like that has been on fire

  5. For the £40 odd quid it costs I replaced mine, luckily someone else had already butchered the floor for me to access it :(

  6. Yeah I know, it hasn't worked since I've owned the bus.

  7. Its not hard to do it just requires the correct resistance wire about a metre in length total resistance 70 ohms. i did mine 2 years ago, still working.

  8. i need to do this mine has not worked since i got him but can i get to the sender from behind the fire wall . just looked at the van and i have a acsess panel in back of the van and when i look in i see the fire wall can i unsrcew this and get to the sender or do i need to cut a hole in the floor any help would be great .
    thanks simon

  9. I don't think you can get to it from the firewall. PO had cut the hole in the floor for me.

  10. Engine out job dude... remove firewall, then remove tank... replace fuel sender, do breather hoses while in there, put it all back together, job done

  11. Type 4 engines can be left in situ but you need to remove the carbs and airbox and its a right b*****r to get the firewall out...

  12. You dont want to be repeating this job anytime soon just buy a new one and get it sorted. You can save some cash in other ways.
Dont forget Bays are the cheapo vans they used to be.

  13. well i did it cut the hatch in the floor and yes the sender is cream crackerd all the contact wires have worn out . so just been on to coolair and ordered a replacement so hope to have this workin soon will let you know if it works

  14. I did ours while the engine was out, still tried to do it with the tank in situ but couldn't refit the new one (couldn't get enough to turn it to lock with my big hands!

Got our new one from coolair, certainly works but only shows 7/8 full when tank is full and seems to have a good 2 gallons in when empty so whilst I would like it to read accurately (my job being an instrumentation engineer), I will leave it as is, I know when it reads empty I have 2 gallons ish so need to fill up.
