Fuel Pump not working Help

  1. this is the part you'll need if you want to go down this route....more involved but the safest option IMO
these were fitted to 1979/80 VW transporters in the US, including the California models

  2. i used this pump, but I'm running a Weber, which like 3 PSI....check the stock fuel pressure requirement for your Pierburg and choose a pump that suits, or over spec and run a regulator....

personally, if you can find a stock mechanical pump in good nick i'd replace the old one...

you can adjust the pressure of a stock pump by adding/removing gaskets and/or modifying the pushrod

I fitted one from Heritage ( repro ) because the original leaked oil.
    The repro did the same.
Got refund and replaced with electric.
Was told that there were manufacturing issues and Heritage at the time weren't stocking.

  4. Twin Webers at the mo but will be going back to an OG Solex twin carb setup eventually

  5. maybe worth asking on here what the og fuel pressure should be.....not sure myself:thumbsup:

  6. Checked with Paul Weeding and he said it would be fine with both set upsset ups

  7. Paul fitted that setup to mine.
I'm running a facet on the other one.

  8. furry muff.....just had a quick look on'tinterweb....1.5 - 2 PSI seems to be the most common response.....but guess 'real world' is just as good a recommendation

  9. I'm just paranoid about fuel pressure: Had a Malpassi Filter King/reg and an overspecced pump running twin IDFs at 'so called' proper pressure and had all sorts of trouble..assumed it was everything but fuel pressure.......swapped out the webers for some borrowed Dells, refitted the reg/pump and had the same issues.....junked the reg., put a 3PSI pump on it worked a treat

  10. We'll see how it runs hopefully at the weekend fingers crossed
