Okay.I have renewed all the FI pipes on the engine.To connect to the fuel pump and fuel return how did people mate the different diameter fittings.Any connectors that can be used to connect the narrow gauge to the wider FI pipes.I was contemplating fuel filters as these have stepped connectors.Would then have a whole family of filters in my engine bay then though.
The only fuel filter you need is the one that goes before the pump, the correct square filter has a small inlet and a large outlet to the pump, the output of the pump is then small for the rest of the system

Didn't read this correctly.My fuel pipes from the tank are narrower than the lines on the FI system.So the pump has narrower inlet and outlet.I will check this evening if the outlet on the pump is stepped which means I may be able just to connect the wider gauge lines.
I don't remember having any problems with different size pipes/hoses when I replaced all my FI fuel hoses earlier this year. It was basically 7mm hose everywhere except for a short 10mm section for the filter to the pump. There is a great guide on FI hoses with diagrams showing how it should all connect together and giving exact lengths of which size hoses for different years at: http://ratwell.com/technical/FuelHoses.html The 7mm hose going on to the FI rails is tight, but it does go on Ok.
Sounds like someone has been doing some part swapping... As peasoup says, all 7mm apart from one piece of 10mm
