I came up with a similar scheme to this whilst *******ed sitting around a camp fire in a field somewhere. It was to combat living and accommodation costs for those who weren't in work and were receiving pensions or benefits and the idea was to outsource as per the Rwanda idea to countries across the globe where the cost of living would mean more bang for your buck and potentially a better lifestyle. My idea was that people could sign up voluntarily for it. Potentially whole extended families on the dole could go and start their own little communities overseas. Who knows they might even be allowed to earn on top of their benefits too. Reduces the population and need for housing and schools etc. brings revenue to a developing country etc. etc. didn't think in my wildest dreams that someone would actually think to do something similar!
Am I right in thinking that this whole “We can have Blue passports again” thing was a load of rubbish, and that there was nothing stopping us having blue passports when we were in the EU?

The cons don't even care whether this was a success or was stopped. The fact it was stopped opens the door for leaving the European Convention for Human rights and whole debacle is hoped to force Labour to pick as position that might loose them votes. It also gives le tory MPs some ammo that they are trying to tackle illegal immigration despite the fact that they aren't really in any meaningful way. Anything can be spun for political gain.
