So i have driven about 90 miles to the campsite with no issues and set up camp but this morning as i was drinkingy tea i noticed a hose under the bus. Its about 2 ft long and 3/4 of an inch in diameter. Its dry and does not appear to have had any jubilee clips or fasteners on it. Found towards the front of the bus. Ive been under with a torch and cannot see any obvious place this could have come from. Checked my servo and that has a hose on it so dont think its that. Looked in the engine bay as well in case in came from there. Im wondering if it was already on the ground but something tells me its off my bus. Any ideas folks? Jon
Was gonna say servo, but you've already covered that, chances are that it was already there. Have another look but hold onto it incase you notice something missing later?
How many hoses should come from the servo. I have one. If i'm supposed to have 2 then i may have an issue.
It looks about the same size as the hose from the breather chimney to the airbox, not sure how that would have got past the tinware though if it is....
I have one from the front and then the other goes to the vac pipe in the engine bay? Can't think what else it could be especially at that size?? Hopefully someone will be along with other ideas? Tagged these two in for you, the gurus! Paul Weeding zed
Looks like it could the remnants of a Servo air intake pipe (as against vacuum). Usualy vents up in a wheel arch or similar place. IF its belongs to you the servo will still function but draw in dust and general crud.
Looks like a servo hose. Check yours works ie. foot on the pedal (lightly) with engine off, start engine - pedal will drop a little without increasing pressure. There is the vacuum hose on one side and there is another hose which is on the other side of the sevo which normally goes to a solid tube which runs up into the wheel arch. Usually this has ritted out and all thats left is the flexi. this is there to stop water and carp getting into the servo. It could be that tube but why it should fall off for no apparent reason!!!! where abouts under the bus was it?
It was under the servo which is why i checked there first. I'll look into that wheel arch later. Thanks all.
Now back home and being able to look at a few pictures online I was able to locate both ends of where the hose should go. It was indeed the servo breather and is now secured with some hose clamps (where none were before....). It was under the offside wheel arch and ran forward to the top part of the cylinder attached to the front of the servo. Thanks all, Jon
