Just read Sky have signed an exclusive deal from 2019 onwards... that might be a significant nail in the coffin. I for one refuse to willingly line Murdochs pocket!!

 

yep, the only races they will show free is the british grand prix plus a couple of others which will be available on a free channel somehow.


The new Sky deal, which runs until 2024, will see Sky broadcast the British Grand Prix on a free-to-air Sky channel available on services such as YouView, and at least two other races on its yet to be launched Mix channel, which will be available to all Sky subscribers even if they do not take any of its sports channels. However, the remainder of the races each year will only be available to customers who pay for Sky Sports.

 

i wonder how the teams will get on with sponsorship with less people viewing , especially if something similar happens in other countrys ?

 

I think it already does... IIRC Germany is the last free to air country and the German viewing figures are dropping regardless.

What with the exchange of open letters between Bernie and the Drivers, the cock up with quali.... etc. it's a wonder we have a sport to watch!! There was an idea muted last year that most of the technical regulations should just be handed to one person (maybe Ross Brawn) for management and not all of the different organisations with their own agendas.

I can see a struggle of power starting to happen between Bernie/FIA and the teams.

Is it time Bernie went.

 

The first ten mins were OK, then down hill!!

If the last session was shorter and allowed only one run it would probably have the desired effect of putting pressure on the drivers to get it right!

I watched the C4 coverage for the first time and thought it was good, DC has stepped up into joint anchor which he suited.... Best of all it was on +1 so I could get back from VoWo without fear of missing it!!
