  1. Can anyone tell me if this is going to be an issue? ImageUploadedByTapatalk1364730203.400899.jpg

  2. Looks like bin time to me!! You've got some pretty hard wear on the other teeth on there too!! :(

but the wear looks like some one had dropped it to me, the wears on the back edge so is unlikely to effect starter engagement

  4. Are you sure about that? Which side does the starter come at the flywheel??

i was also referring to the wear that the starter has made on the teeth... considering the teeth are hardened, it's looking pretty well worn!!

no im not sure, I thing the starter comes in and hits the broken bit :) . vw are all backwards ways round

  6.

yeah, starter comes in towards the broken bit, so it could also cause damage to the starter gear, plus it'll only have half a tooth to drive on, which would eventually lead to that tooth failing completely!!

IMO time for a new flywheel... not like it's going to break the bank ;)

  7. Cheers, thanks everyone

  8. Id imagine it would be naughty to build up the broken tooth with weld and file it back into shape:eek:

  9. You could, but that could cause other issues... I'd do that as a final resort tbh...

  10. New flywheel found collecting tomorrow, Problem solved... For now!
