That's not a useful contribution. Dan was very helpful when I had problems with mine and sorted out a complete replacement.
Which is fair enough!! When I finally get the type 4 of mine built, I'll be looking for some form of decent system ie Vintage Speed but the comments made have stayed on my mind; I've not seen any further comments made by either side. When spending the amount being charged, I want piece of mind that after service will be positive, not with an err of doubt. I'm sure you can see where I'm coming from - I do love the look of VS systems, they're nicely made and sound spot on..
Hi guys. Ok firstly I've just seen this. Whenever I speak to people who buy these I always say put some assembly paste between the flanges, I also recommend using copper lock nuts as they can shake loose, I do this on all the systems I fit and have no problems, if anyone has a problem or defect with these systems I always try and sort it out, I've seen the flanges do this before usually over tightened bolts do it. Hope it gets sorted out. Cheers. Dan.
I have just spoken to one of our Directors who has just come back from a trip out to Taiwan to have a meeting with Vintage Speed. If you have any quality issues do feel free to feedback through me and I can them get it passed back to the manufacturers directly. (I have already passed this back, but didnt want to talk about it until our Director had returned from his trip) Vintage Speed are very keen for their product to be the best on the market, and really appreciate their customers feeding back to them about any issues they have. Hopefully this helps having another avenue to feedback through, All my best, Alex
Despite my indicated reservations I would be quite happy to fit and evaluate any system for a type 4 engine and provide feedback for you. I do have standard fitted on a standard motor so could give some good punter style feedback (Well... If you don't ask)
I have the super flow type 4 one and being an engineer I have tried to find fault with it .....I can't , it's a cracking piece of kit .... It's easy to blame the exhaust for user error ... Also by filing it flat it will thin it out even more making it even more prone to bending ...
Genuine question: Just on this forum we've had rusty ones, bent ones, and ones with bits falling off them. They can't all be caused by user error surely?
By over tightening the flanges they will bend . Are there pictures of the rusty one ? Abmitidly zeds was faulty but you get the odd faulty one in anything you buy , either way the one I have is really decent quality and for the money you can't go wrong ...I was very sceptical before I got mine being made in Taiwan but its real quality and annoys me when people that slag stuff off when they don't even own one
They have had them on vehicles for a lot longer than you would believe, they have been going a fair while, and do a lot of product testing, even then there are always issues which crop up from time to time and feedback is appreciated. That is all!
I think it was TBR who has a rusty one. I'm not slagging them; just combining what I've read into my perception of the product; as will plenty of other people. It matters not if I own one or not. I dont own a radio-flyer but it doesnt stop me having an opinion on them!
Sorry I didn't mean it to come across that you were slagging then ..it was a general comment mixed in with a response to your question .... I'd be interested to see pics of a rusty one
I recently fitted my vs exhaust , the quality of it is really good but I was very disappointed how the flanges foul against the engine support bar
I was thinking of getting a vintage speed either later this year or early next. Is there anything better at the minute?
