A few people from here went to this show last year when it was at York racecourse and apparently it was Shi*e then as well, this year it was then moved to a supposedly better venue and it seems it's not worked again. Being from Yorkshire and hearing and seeing a lot of stuff around the county I went to another show organised by the same person a few years back, but that was cancelled and never happened again, I vowed then not to entertain anything by them again and it seems I was right in my decision, there are a lot of Vw shows and some people will go to anything just because it's about dubs, Not me, I make sure that if it's my money they want they need to earn it, There is a show next week in my home town but i'm not going that either, I went three years ago and it was pants so never again, live and learn and do your homework I say plus just camping in nice places is better anyway
They also tried to limit the amount of drinks you could take into the show area.....not too bad when the on site bar was charging 2 quid for a can of john smiths, but when I went back later it was 3 quid a can! Numpty on the bar mumbled something about happy hour.....Straight back to the bus for my regulation rucksack full of ale! Another one to avoid next year.
Maybe the joke is on the attendees, who might have known exactly what to expect if they'd taken the name of the show literally. IMO the name of the show is vomit inducing and along with them stopping non-air-cooled peeps camping with their mates that was enough to put me off. It had "money making" written all over it.
I remember commenting about it not being a good idea splitting the scene up and making it aircooled only Most disagreed with me if i remember correctly
If I remember most were put off by the water coolers having to camp in the car park or something. Even you in your tent if I remember. It's not the TLB way. I think there's a slight attraction to air-cooled only shows as a knee jerk reaction to being out-numbered by T4's at some events, but they need to be a bit more chilled about bending the rules.
Yes i couldent have camped in my tent with the late bay as id be arriving in a watercooled dub Conquer and divide i think was the phrase i used and as for shows charging for kids that just *******es me off
Didn't go this year, last year was a bit of a yomp to the site from camping, cost for the weekend was ok I suppose but very high for the day pass...loads of water cooled though and they were on the same field!
These money making shows boil my blood, I've been caught out by going to some stinkers in my time, purely as a "last minute something to do". But thankfully not this one. This whole VW thing has all gone a bit too far now I think. I can't believe some of the tat they sell at these "shows" too slap a VW logo on anything and it seems people will buy it too. Like someone said in an earlier post, shows these days have to earn my money if they want it.
Maybe we need a page where we can rate them? something with no conversations just a star rating and number of votes, all incognito, could that be done?
Well said . The money aspect of `shows` is attracting `promoters` rather than enthusiastic clubs . I haven`t been to one for years but enjoyed the few i went to for the simple reason they were run by regular members , mostly for the hell of it . I went to the 1st and 2nd VOLKSWIGAN gathering on the hill events , maybe 12 years ago - BRILLIANT , simply because they were a small friendly event . Last time i looked it`s was a biggish music fest ...... Give me a field and couple of mates anytime !
That would be a good thing then i would never have waisted my money here but the air museum down the road was good so at least the peteol was not a loss
