FAO ATE Servo Dismantlers

  1. Giving the servo in the pic a bit of a freshen-up. Q: how do I get the plastic end cap (the one the pushrod goes through) off without breaking it (it's brittle)? There's a wire clip on the boot, plus a circlip behind the pushrod nut (ignore the sawn off pushrod). Does it just pull off?

  3. o_O what's going on here???

@snotty are you doing something vw related??

    ;)

  4. So circlip off, and just pull the plastic bit off? Looks v. brittle - I didn't want to yank it, as I won't find another one.

Happens once in a while ;). If it's sunny tomorrow, might get me van started. He's giving me sad eyes...

It'll fall off. Why dismantle it?

This and a socket set equate to danger and misery.

  12. Anyone know what the mounting hole arrangements are for a Brazilian servo? Want to make up a plate with (ideally) both sets of servo measurements in case the German one is a duffer (VWH used to sell a plate, but don't seem to any longer).

The original one above appears to have a 55mm hole with studs on 72mm centres.

  13. Do you have the Bentley drawings for servicing the Servo?

  15. Thats exactly how it comes apart
Damm manual didnt have a section on how not to scratch the paint when you put it back together

  16. No its a brake servo

  17. Not that bad
Maybe a steep learning curve and a small loss of money coupled with a large loss of time
