Ive got two spot lamps to go on the front of my bus and was thinking about fitting some extra bulb holders in them and adding a set of sidelight bulbs I just wanted to check that this would be legal having four lamps lit up on sidelight? I cant see why not but just thought i would check
No law that states how many sidelights you can have, as far as I'm aware, as long as you've got one set of white ones as a minimum.
Just think of how many side lights audi's have and all those LEDs that people stick to the front of their cars!
not sure but you see 4x4 and HGV with loads over the cab.....and a picture on the back of the cab of a lion
There are parameters for height and width etc for lighting positions on cars, in theory you have to keep within them.
Cheers marc but im not fitting any foglamps to the front Im fitting spot lamps which i think are reffered to as high beam driving lamps I must be getting old as i never worried about this sort of thing when i was fastening blue neon tubes underneath cars back in the day Or running aftermarket rear lamps that were missing a reflector Id just like to stay within the law nowadays so i dont get any hassles It can be bad enough wild camping and explaining to the police that your allowed to be there without them picking on the small details of your vehicles legality
http://www.ringautomotive.co.uk/images/pdfs/BRL0369_0375 Instructions.pdf yep thought so, if you follow the distances for fogs, you cant go wrong!
Im all good with the posistioning of the spot lamps then They wont dazzle other road users more like burn there retinas out
you'll be fine!! My mini has them HID xenon headlights & on high beam, they really are bright & legal (I assume) as they are factory!
Im sure i will be fine It will be nice to be able to dazzle some new car owners if the need arises as those hid lights aint half annoying to other road users even on dipped beam The spotlamps going on my bus are the same diameter as the main lights but will use a higher wattage bulb They will be mounted to the front bullbar so i can either have them higher than the standard lights or slightly lower Or if i can find another pair like the ones i have for a reasonable price i could run four spot lamps as well as the normal headlamps What i really want though is an a piller seacrh lamp like what outlaw has on his bus Just the ticket for scouring the fields for rabbits
or something that's a little less chrome http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/military-...arts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item3ccf8f0f13
It looks as if that wiring diagram from Ring allows you to use fog lamps without dip beam ie side lights only, thought that was illegal. I have some spots to wire and will take the relay feed from high beam so on dip spots go off and can only be used on high beam. Let's face it that is when you need them
I think you give them far too much credit. In the real world few of them even understand the rules regarding number plates let alone light positioning.
I've had a similar idea and have bought these: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Sidelight-Pilot-Parking-Light-Bulb-Holder-12volt-/160789816974 Drill a hole and push fit them in & wire em up Modern cars have those uber bright Day Time Running lights so I'm sure an extra set of side lights would be legal!
