Do you put these on as they are or paint them with high temperature paint?

I paint mine but I suspect it doesn't much matter as they seem to rot from the inside.
A question for you. Have you been provided with the six studs for this exhaust or do they come in a separate fitting kit?

I got mine ceramic coated. Not cheap but it’s lasting really very well.

 

I didn't paint mine then wished I had as the stuff on there isn't very durable, I guess it's just transit paint. That said after two years there's no corrosion on it at all, as someone pointed out above they probably rust from the inside out anyway.

Have you got the old one off yet, I had hours of fun doing ours....

 

I had the exhaust off in October so shouldn't be to bad I'm only replacing it as the inside has fallen to bits and it's rather loud also bought a new heat sheild as at present there's only half of one on there.

The painted outside will not get really hot enough for VHT paint to cure.

 

I painted my new type 4 heat exchanges with it, and they cured ok, and because I've only half a heat sheild above the exhaust, my back bumper gets really hot.
Don't know if that's because most of the inside is missing

To go back to my question about the studs, I've just had the same silencer delivered from Heritage. I didn't order a fitting kit or a tail pipe as I'd already got spares of everything apart from the studs. They have however supplied a bag of studs and nuts which are included in with the cost of the silencer.

 

The studs were attached to the exhaust in a bag I ordered this as I needed the tail pipe and gaskets. I also used Latebay discount code so got the lot for £170.95 with free postage.

Exhaust and heatsheild fitted but one thing I did notice is the tailpipe points up so in heavy rain it'll fill up with water.

Hmm. Strange. it looks like it's been attached badly to the triangular flange. Mine is quite parallel to the bumper. Maybe you can bend it down a bit?

 

You can probably get a short elbow tail pipe to send it down ...possibly a stainless one .

I used this on the heatshield and just left the exhaust and exchangers .

 

If it actually does fill up with water, you could always trade a rusty interior for a small soon to be rusty hole drilled at the low point.

The pipe wont bend easily but you might be able to lever the whole tailpipe so its more level. Or just end up cracking paint..

Or just leave it and spend the next few years saving up for a stainless exhaust.

 

I did think about drilling a hole mate, but I've gone for one of those daft chrome tail pipe covers.
At least it'll stop it filling up.
