Exhaust fitment question

Discussion in 'Mech Tech' started by Starryboy, Apr 28, 2013.

  1. Yes there is air blowing but I've nothing to compare it too. Feels ok.

Is it common for the fans to reduce the amount they blow over the years?

When you but a std exhaust silencer, where the short pipes knock in the top (the ones you fit the carboard tubes from the fan to), there are caps knocked in them with a small hole (10mm?) that's just there so you can get something in to prise them out. They have "remove before installation" or something similar stamped on them. They are there to prevent transit damage. I bet someone didn't remove them as they look like part of the exhaust. ;)

So, undo the carboard hoses and have a look down to see.

I bought an exhaust bundle the other day - silencer, tailpipe and all the fittings. Seemed a good price compared to the ernst seperates, but Ernst it ain't. Described as "quality", but doesn't say what quality, could be "poor quality" for all I know. ;)
I'd buy the seperates now I know that.

Should be blowing a gale, not a whisper...

  6. Go on, tell him, or he won't sleep tonight...:) Sounds plausible.

I've seen it done before. Another one for the book of quick, cheap and satisfying fixes. :)
