  3. Hi ALex, sorry missed your previous post!

No, this was the result...should be getting the bus back a week on Monday all being well. I am definitley NOT expecting that to happen when we do....but I have taken note of what everyone has said on recon engines.....
    :)

  4. Thank god lol, Your old one looks like its thrown a con rod. Its scrap !! I presume they don't take that as an exchange :)

  5. Too right they have now invoked the clause taht if your case is scrap they don't take as excange. Hey ho, I can't change what happened.

  6. Ask for it back if they are not going to give you anything for it, you might be able to sell the heads?

  7. Didn't think of that ;)

  8. Have u got your new engine yet?

  9. Picking up on Monday.....
The process has been fine, I didn't push them for a quick turn around but it's been done in a couple of weeks from them starting it. There were a few extras needed, exhaust had a hole in it, heat exchangers rusted, seals in engine bay etc but they did ask and confirm prices before they did anything (they did also send me pics of the exhaust/heat exchangers)
I was supposed to pick it up last Monday but on final test on the Friday they found an oil leak at gearbox/engine seal. They have replaced that foc. They have also offered to refund me for the rail ticket I'd already purchased. I can't fault them for the approach so far.
I will report back next week when I get back ;)

  10. Can't argue with that!

  11. Agree. Proof of the pudding is in the eating....let's see how it drives and let's see at 1k miles etc.....not that I'm worried or owt ;)

  15. Well, back and all seems good. No oil leaks! Seems smooth, no flat spots, chugging or anything. Come All the way back from South London to North Notts no bother. 50mph max is a wee bit boring tho ;)
There are a couple of things though...gears were pretty good following the last lot of work we had done on him they're now back to being a bit of a lottery...they say they don't go near gear box/linkage with the work they do :(
Also, sliding door won't open, handle won't move from inside or outside :(:( (any ideas?)
Anyway, 500 running in miles to get knocked off smartish and we'll see how we go!

  16. No oil leaks is definitely a good sign.

  17. is it an early sliding door or a late one with the lock in the door?

  18. Early? Lock in handle...

  19. Has the little grey lock on the inside of the door jammed?

  20. Checked that, can't push handle from inside or outside
