  4. A shade under 10% between them - and the PayPal end is really hidden. Almost like they don’t want people to know how much it costs.
Best thing is to find the same - or v similar - thing to what you’re selling. Then at the bottom use the ‘sell similar’ option. Speeds things up no end. Always check the fees you’ll be charged at the bottom - get it down to zero! A second line of description for instance is £2. Why does anyone do one?

I use it semi regularly, and thought that it was actually a bit quicker nowadays. It does help to use the "sell similar" function mentioned above.

I generally find that you never really make any worth while profit by the time fees and postage are taken into account, but at least you have got rid of something that was likely to end up in landfill..

Gumtree is really easy and really reliable. But I guess people who are local to you might already know the Peaks and have their books. But worth a shot. No posting hassle either.

  7. Best to donate them to charity shops, they need the money for the good causes, and its no hassle to you.

The thing that annoys me the most is that drafts of items you’re planning on selling disappear after a few weeks so I’m constantly having to start over and never get around to actually selling them.

  10. Charity shops are quite picky nowadays - we struggle to find any taking donations this time of year. Took several bags to a shop in Tring recently, a real pig to park near so jumped out of the car with several bags, the old dear in the shop watched me struggle in and put them all down and then announced that they weren't taking any donations. After a few choice words about putting a notice in the window the whole lot ended up in the recycling at the tip.

  11. you tried. I decluttered my house a while ago and I pre sorted the items and they took all saleable stuff. the rest went to refuse waste destined for the Maidstone incinerator, not landfill. Charity shops are run by volunteers and don't have the time to sort bags of mixed items. They want to turn the stuff over quickly as they usually have limited storage and shelf space.

  13. There’s nothing wrong with Luton that a small thermonuclear device wouldn’t sort out.

I drive through it every week without fail and I guarantee that every time at least once per journey I will end up muttering “my god this place is a Marmitehole”. The Luton effect never wears off.

  14. Like others have never put up items on flee bay for sale but have bought many. Was thinking of having a garage clear out of bay items when I have sold my camper but I think I will forget flee bay if its that bad as mentioned but use this site, facebook, gumtree justkampers etc Just got to find a genuine buyer in the spring I have had enough of time wasters ect. There was a vw meet this weekend on Southend sea front with around 50 vehicles mostly T4/5/6 the t2 are getting very few it seems.

A few years ago we worked on a new building near a park in Luton (seem to remember it being some sort of museum). Used to drive down to check the lads where ok and have a breakfast in a dodgy cafe down the road.
Having also worked in some select areas in Liverpool, Manchester, Hull and Leeds. Luton seemed like just another select area :)

  16. I've got thousands of old VW and scooter parts crammed into my garage and sheds - I've got to get rid of it all - has anyone done a garage sale, or is it best to offer if as a 'job lot, bring a van' advert?

  17. Was thinking of doing a autojumble at a vw show but they want £40 a pitch and traders only! Friend of mine did a garage clear out of MG parts and a MG specialist bought the lot for £18,000! Give justkampers a call at least they would have some better parts!

  18. The new years day run usually starts from Runneymede council office car park in Benfleet, the big bloke (a parcel force driver by trade) with a beard runs one of the clubs. I can't remember the club name but there is a link on facebook for the new years day charity run Boreham to Southend I believe. You might be able to advertise on their pages. Last one we did in '16' was pretty well attended by late bays.

  19. Should have said it was on new years day and not this weekend. Not sure if I saw your van at Tabors Farm meet on news year day!

  20. Sadly not. She spat a plug out last year and medical issues meant I've just got my licence back so getting ready to pull engine and sort it out.
