cheers mate .....think I will need to buy a new backing plate lol the one you have pained grey is a little different to mine, where the alternator butts up to it, mine is recessed in/dished ....bit hard to explain, but definatly different to yours
for anyone doing a search and finding this thread.....and your thinking of doing the same, the only bits I've been able to save from my old dynamo set up is the pulley (which needed 1mm grinding off the rear face) ....and I could save the original shims and fan nut ....and thats about it .....every thing else has been binned for my other alternator fitting problems see the thread below http://thelatebay.com/index.php?threads/more-alternator-troubles.25019/
