Will this actually be any good as it seems very cheap http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Dial-test...UK_Measuring_Tools_Levels&hash=item1c2b4cf226
Tools like that are cheap dude... they're banged out in china by the thousand... as for accuracy, you could check it against a calibrated block... but I don't see it being too far out!!
we use one at work (UKAS calibrated) and its been good for the past 5 years - in comparison to a Mitutoyo one with a little more precision, its equally as good and passes its annual recalibration with no errors (it maintains its 0.5% max error deviation) - the key to using an instrument like this is storage, keep it in a case with some form of padding (bubble wrap will work)
I've got a similar one. Gauge seems ok, but the clamp and "arms" aren't very sturdy/steady. Best to clamp an old speaker magnet to the flywheel to hold it.
I've got this mag base... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/RDGTOOLS-..._Metalworking_Supplies_ET&hash=item56473e937c nice and small... idea for the jobs that I do
Mmm. I'm tempted. Is it wobbly? I don't like plastic bits on things that are measuring fractions of a mm.
Cheers guys ive bought one Keep your fingers crossed for me that i can shim the endfloat out on my engine
