  1. So went to York raceway at the weekend and watched some awesomely quick machines, including a beetle doing 11.4secs for 1/4 mile.

Was thinking , how many of you would stick your bus down a strip and how mush would you pay for it.

At York Raceway they wanted £30.00, however you could do several runs.

  2. Sensible side. . . . No!
    Not Sensible side . . . .Yes!

We found ourselves in a drag race around Brands Hatch with an prototype bay and a Beatle. We didn't have to floor it, but the moment kind of takes you!

^ I reckon we can guess

On a personal note, it would feel like entering my Gran for the olympics :-[

  5. Yes, if it had a decent engine in it, just to see what time I could post. It would probably be the start of a slippery slope though, the £30 would be insignificant in relation to all of the 'must have' engine mods that would follow.

I'd have a run in Gusbus, definately but I'd want to ensure that the mechanics would be up to it ie brakes and clutch, you wouldnt want them to let go half way down!

Major is way too heavy and the motor is only a std FI 2.0!

    Great fun though

  8. Did it at Santa Pod on my Suzi, somehow I think that having enough time to light a fag and change tracks on the ipod would take some of the exhilaration away, add to that the paranoia induced when the 1600TP makes different noises, i'd probably smoke ten fags in the quarter mile :)

If money was no object. and a big bore lump with lots of goodies fell into the engine bay ...then yes 8)

  9. If i had the bottle i would. Just would worry bout killing it!

  10. i'd do it if i had a good engine!!

    ^-^

  13. Yes holmsen was a daft question for you n Paul.
Think I will do a run once I've got my engine project finished.
Would be nice to see how it goes.

  16. when i first saw this i thought you meant dress up as a lady and then strip...

    sounded crazy haha

  17. Three years ago i went down the strip in our bus. It is a standard 1600Tp. Hardly anyone was going down the strip on the friday, so i thought i would never have the opportunity again and had quite a few runs down. Surprisingly no one else in the crumpets camp shared my enthusiasm.

However i did knock off 4 seconds off from my original run. I also knocked over the kettle and table etc.

I don't think the O.F.F, B.W.A and U.S.B knocked off the same times as i did, funny thing in the bar that night they didn't agree with my arguement that i had done better than them.

  18. scrap that last post, finger slipage incident.
YES woody and myself were looking forward to a race at viking volks fest, and while 30quid for a full days racing sounds like good value , we only wanted one or two runs . i asked if thay would consider a discount but was told £30 for one run .
so we didnt bother , which was a real shame because we had both emptied the vans of cluter and run the fuel
    bown to fumes.
no tyre screeching, more of a "hooow muchhhh"
