I think that's what it's called. Does anyone know where I can get one for a LHD sliding door. Sliding door lock thing on the far left of this pic.
I've had a good mooch around but don't really know what part it is lol. Searched sliding door stuff but no joy. Even looked through JK stuff.
Found one on fleabay but its not the same shape! http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VW-TYPE-2...arts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item33804b2b99 The one in the first picture looks right. The shape matches the marks left on the pillar where it once was before the PO didn't put it back lol
No, the ebay one is for a LATE bay. The difference is: up to 73 the early slider has a catch which fits into the catchplate on the b pillar. after 73 the late slider has no catch, just a rubber buffer, which slots into the catchplate. If the shape you need is the same as in the picture you posted, then you must have an early slider (lock in handle) as that picture is from a 73 bus.
To be honest, it's real mix 'n' match, because early sliders will fit on lates, and vice versa, if you change the b pillar catchplate. I've seen some real odd matchups in some buses. I'm only going by the fact that some friends of ours have a pretty original 74 devon and that has a late slider on it - they're real sticklers for originality too, so I know if it was wrong it would bother them.
Unfortunately, you're off on that one... as my 79 does not have the ebay one fitted... I've not managed to work out the variations on sliders yet It seems like you can have either fitted regardless of age or panel/bus
anyhows i am ebay king £10 finders fee to me http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/classic-v...arts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item2ec53be0e2
yours has the correct late one , its to do with the locking mechanism which is directly related to the door handle type, lock in or out
At least you got sorted and I now know I have an Early microbus door on a 1975 panel van. No wonder I'm confused!
