  1. Hi, does anyone know the Super Viking on eBay currently- number 262820072011 - sorry - I can't link on my iPad. It's in Tadley, Hampshire.

If not, feel free to critique - I very much welcome your opinions!

    Thanks

    Samantha

I'd want pictures of the underneath, the drivers side and most importantly on these the guttering and rear roof corners. The hinges rivet or bolt through the roof and take a lot of strain, and are more prone than other roof types to leak through the hinges, hard to spot inside with the furniture in so needs careful investigation.

Aren't those vinyl roofs prone to awful condensation too? @Dicky , what sayest thou? A rear hinged Westy with canvas pop top might be better?

  6. Actually you do have a point that can be an issue. I changed my canvas a good few yers ago and the stitching needs reproofing from time to time. I didnt have the zipped vents at the ends and fitted a roof vent, the type that opens but has a passive vent too to reduce the condensation issue. We used to camp in the lakes a lot, on borrowdale usually and got very used to the constant high humidity and rain. We utilised picnic blankets to line the inside so bedding didnt get damp if it touched the canvas. You can get insulated covers these days, indeed im looking to make one for mine!

I wouldnt disgaree with the westie idea as they are easy to pop, insulated/solar covers are cheapish and replacement bellows and parts seem to be common.

  7. Not sure meself. Possibly worth a look before having a punt. Odd roof as it seems to be an earlier roof cap, ie the fibreglass bit, but with the later bellows etc. Id be interested to see some interior pics of how they have achieved that.

See here. This is my bus but with the Early style cap

Much taller. It might be fine but its a bit of a hibrid, then again so is mine and its more or less how i want it, most of the time!

  9. Indeed ...had 2 front panels since then!

  10.
How long have you had it..?
    [I'm sure I should know]

  11. Not as long as some on here but about 22 years. Had a front outer skin fitted around the time of that pic but it rotted out and had a full panel fitted about 5 years ago.

  13. I've asked for pictures of the underside, and he says that he doesn't have them. Its a good distance to go and view, so I'm reluctant to make the trip without seeing them. I'll ask again. Thanks for all of the info!

  14. Ahh - didn't think of that!

  15. Thanks Dicky - really useful info
