as it says above... Had a search and couldn't find a decent (with photos) write up. I sort of get the jist of how to do it. its more how to get the pistions out what to look for (scoring pitting?) and replacing with new seal kit. Thanks! luv's
the piston should have a nice chromed finish, it will be rusty where the piston is outside of the big seal though.
coolio thanks! didnt think of that. quite logical really. next question once out cleaned dusted oiled etc how do you squeeze it back in.
Once cleaned and sorted it should go back in by hand, if not gently use a brake piston compressor or a G clamp. DO NOT FORCE IT. Do this BEFORE connecting the brake pipe otherwise you will fill your system with air!
It's nice to get both pistons to pop out at the same time.. If one is a little bit stubborn clamp it while the stiffer piston catches up. Don't clamp directly to the piston, use a piece of wood or the old brake pad to protect the piston. Have something in place to catch the fluid when they do pop out.
Yep, as above pump them out with hydraulic pressure. You'll knacker them if you try to lever them out. As they're an extremely snug fit in the calliper, they tend to jam if you do try to lever them out.
Yep, don't lever them out, you'll break the lip, and mind your fingers, they stick then pop out quickly sometimes.
