  1. I'm as mad as s****
just had a right rant at couriers who were supposed to deliver today(dpd) the lying barstewards.
I've been on my drive most of the day cleaning engine and starting to strip it down so I know that they have not been, they say they couldn't deliver as it needed to be signed for.
my main rant was they want to do it tomorrow but I won't be in, they said can they leave it in a safe place.
    fine I said.....
will you take full responsibility for it, they said....
    no I said....
well we can't leave it then.
I said why do I have to take responsibility for it, I don't even know your getting the right house as you didn't come to the right house today did you...

we went around in circles for a bit with him getting more annoyed

I think I might be back onto them, just had an email confirming for tomorrow and saying we have to leave the 'sorry we missed you card' or it cant be delivered
but he never f************************************************** came so how could he leave his card.

wendy has just wrote him a nice thankyou note for not coming today and then lying about it.....................

ok calming down a bit now, and breathe...

Why don't they just deliver in the evening when most people are in, I was in all day today doing bits and bobs around the place when I saw something pushed through the letterbox, a note from the meter reader ( New provider ) saying sorry he missed us and he will call again tomorrow morning FFS when most people are at work and I will be also, *****ing idiots

Last time I saw a DPD van it was floating down the river after trying to negotiate a too deep ford. I expect the local pikeys emptied it before it could be recovered.

  10. I have never understood this either. Surely there is a need for night working couriers. Road would be quieter too so more drops, I bet. Less return calls trying to deliver same package.

Having to have someone at home or taking a day off for a delivery is stupid!

  11. maybe they could round all the single no family blokes together...

Familys that eat together stay together...(personally I don't want disturbing for a handbrakecable delivery):D

In the old days before everyone was batting for themselves , loads of stay at home neighbours would take delivery ,you have created this society...;)

Some days our hall looks like a sorting office with all the neighbours parcels we take during the day.

  13. I don't think evening deliveries is really an option. It's not like the drivers have only a couple of dozen items to deliver, which they could do in a couple of hours. Most of them have a couple of hundred, and often work into the early evening anyway. Imagine having them coming knocking a 11 o clock at night.
I've never really had a problem with deliveries. The last couple have given me a delivery time slot on the morning. A 1 hour window, and they have arrived within that slot. You can even track them on line and see which delivery they are currently making.

  14. They really are cr@p...I've had a couple of things through them in the last few months...I was in in both occasions and in both occasions they completely ignored my address and delivered somewhere else with out even attempting to try my door 1st. The last time I watched the van drive up and park at the end of my drive, then the driver promptly went next door....

    ....grrrrrr....

It's a pity, as their online tracking thingy is pretty good...IRS just the Lemons they hire to drive the vans that let the whole show down.

    P.

PS: they will be delivering my new fridge & hob for the camper today....maybe 3rd time lucky and they'll get it right...?!

  15. Have it delivered to work if you can. Not in defense of some of these crap firms but most DPD type vans/drivers have something like 90 or 100 drops to make in a day.

Whilst the vast majority of people insist on free delivery this is the sort of service we can look forward to.

Night deliveries wouldn't work for the vast majority of people either.

  17. Couriers get paid once to deliver an item, if you are not in and they deliver it again the next day, they get paid again... the system is open to a abuse.
yodel are quite possibly the worst of the bunch. one driver I had sat in his van, wrote out the little card and walked up to the door and pushed it through. I opened the door and asked if he'd heard of knocking! he said "you didnt look like you were in" :D

I asked the my Hermes dude, he said 150 , but they get paid per parcel so 10 at the same address is 10 drops

    1. If they can't get the delivery right at home, what is to say they'll be any better delivering to my work..?
    2. work won't take in personal packages, but if they did, I'm having a fridge & 2-ring hob delivered....that'd be fun on the tube...
    3. how does the number of deliveries prevent the driver from reading the address on the parcel and matching to the (clearly visible) number on my front door....?
The delivery company requires the driver to try to deliver to the correct address, and only if they get no reply do they have other options. The problem is that the drivers I've had seem to deliberately skip that part that and just (appear to) deliver to a random house.

To me, that is gross professional misconduct....

  19. I agree it's bad but you also have to remember that the delivery guy is the bottom end of the chain, most likely getting minimum wage and for all you know his/her boss has told them "don't come back with an empty van". It is wrong though, from both angles.
