Dashboard lights

    Having driven across France often ('59 Beetle) at night during the early seventies the dimmer function was most welcome. The 6v head lights were so poor that the dashboard lights were blinding unless dimmed. In street lit towns you could turn them up again as needed. Quite useful...in the seventies :thumbsup:

    Zed Gradually getting grumpier

    My original lights and oil gauges are bright enough but my rev counter light is far too bright.

    Fit a 1.2 watt bulb in there .. like the dash bulbs. Will need some creative bodging..

    A friend of mine who grew up in Romania, in the 80s and 90s , and whose family car was a 6 volt Beetle told stories of when they saw an oncoming vehicle at night, they would pull over and his father who was driving would cover his eyes with his hands to protect his night vision for the 6 volt headlamp illuminated road ahead.
    The front seat passenger would do the same as their job was a spotter for dimly lit hazards...
