I have a heater in there and warm the panel and I'm working on 3 areas at a time to give it time to go off but it's ok not to cold today !! If it's really cold I weld and make noise !!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Had 4 solid hours of filler and sanding the other side ready for paint as the weather has warmed up a tad !! Inner arch pretty much ready to prime and stone chip now and super happy the way the arches and bonnet gaps (considering how much repair work Iv done ) it's not looking to bad the front end is only a 3/4 days away from being ready to paint !!!! Not much to see but been building up the layers to get arch ,a pillar and just started the rear quarter pannel a bit Another bit done Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Next few weeks will se some big change mate maybe even a dry build up with it all together ( if a can get my driver door at dubfreeze) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
It's actually getting there now matey few weeks it's will be really looking like a car again !! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Just been looking on ur thread for pics of how carpet clamps go in doors as started sanding smooth and fort oh hang on !! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
They can go on one of two ways depending on what the edge of the carpet is like. Mine has a rubber trim along the edge which covers the strip and hooks in from the outside of the car. Some carpets don't have the strip so are tucked under the strip from the inside of the car.
Possibly. Not sure if they changed from year to year. My 70 looks like this: Heres a 68 i found on thesamba.com
A repro carpet set won't have the plastic trim on. Unless you spend mega bucks A 68 should look like the bottom pic anyway.
Bit screwed if you have the clamp fitted the other way round that needs the plastic edge like mine. Yep. Up until they changed the heater channels design in 1969. You can just use a strip of 10mm 90 degree bent steel and weld in on. The sort of stuff B&Q sell for a few quid for a metre. Much cheaper than the ones Wolfsburg west sell. http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?p=7202524&highlight=#7202524
Iv got them they was welded in the wrong place I'll find and look at a carpet set this weekend at dubfreeze Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Had a couple of hours welding the rear clip on and made a gem small closing pannels and closed off the heater channel and under the cross member !! Pretty much done bar a arch wing mount to fit in this arch !! The the other side and then bar a few small repairs Iv missed or not seen welding will be done (still a good solid weekend) Allso started with the filler to make it look some sort of a car again Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
