They was on the ones I drilled off but these will do gonna grease all the bolts and drown the rest in wax oil I hav leftvover from the bus and hope it don't catch fire when welding back up Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Nothing much to show picture wise I just welded up the other inner heater tube sealed it all way round and painted a good top coat in the other heater channel all to top coated both closing plates so when this all drys I can weld the one side back up at least then bolt it on to the floor pan !! Had another couple of hours after work and nearly have a heater channel ready to fit but the bottom plates just don't fit at all no where near gotta make the end bit bloody rubbish same make of channel don't go together??? Welded both sides and wax oiled inside as much as possible but .... may god it's flamable when welding lol Ground off the welds near alllso shall finish it off tomoz if get time ( these channels have took some bloody man hours up ) Can't wait to finish the other bloody side Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Been there done that. The channels i got weren't even welded in some places and the pressing was full of creases around the outlet for the pipe up the A pillar. Hopefully with the inside painted and waxoyled afterwards they'll survive longer than the ones fitted to mine did. This was after just 4 years:
Was like a game welding em up with wax oil inside blowing the fire out Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
No bud as the tubes inside are sealed inside the channel Iv welded it up tight so be all good Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I painted mine inside, welded the bottoms back on then poured some paint in, sealed all the holes with tape and then turned them over and over coating any areas that the paint might have burnt off when welding. I've found waxoyl can get into primer (including bonda primer) and makes nasty reactions with topcoats even after thorough cleaning and degreasing.
I'm thinking of joining the Beetle resto club Si, @Zebedee, not sure how much to offer him though? going to look next Sunday
That doesn't look too bad as a project. Gotta be worth £3-500. Theres been a few on ebay that have sold for £7-800. I could do with one of those front bumpers.
Had a few hours managed to fit the bottom plate bar the end but again I need to make ,plug welded all the way up both sides !! Allso poured loads of metal paint down the inside of both of them shall leave them to dry and popbthe x2 little plates on then pour paint down the other end and then I actually think there ready to start trying to fit !! What a bloody labour intensive job but will last years longer I'm sure Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Nice work. Can you measure the exact outside diameter of the stub that the pipe fits on that goes up the A pillar please?
Yes bud got a vernier but there soaked in paint now shall measure for u Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
