Have you check the bulbs are in the right places ?

Have you got the clocks out?

  3. Are they wired correctly behind the dash?

Is this a new thing, the behaviours you are seeing from the bulbs?

When did they all work properly?

Has anything been done since then?

Or have they always been like this to your knowledge?

Check alternator by putting the multimeter on the battery terminals. Turn multi to dc 20. It should read 12.6 volts or very close. Get someone to start her up. It should now read 14+ the alternator is working. If it doesn't move the alternator isn't working. If it is you either have a loose wire on the charging light circuit or a crossed connection.

Si the oil light on yours has been bypassed it some point for a sender and gauge ( which you have removed the gauge from) Earth the oil light to a good earth it should light up if it's working. You then need to see if the og oil switch is connected up. I don't think that it is easily accessible. But someone will put us right.

The one on the sump drain and the one on the T are not the original connections btw.

It worked until you stripped out a load of wires? In that case it was indeed a daft question.

They were a mess and he had a gauge fitted. I think he got rid of the gauge and found the pressure light doesn't work. Easy mistake to a novice. I bet he sorts it though!

My gauge sender has two terminals, one for the gauge and one for the light. I assume this hasn't? That's a pity.

  14. That's correct

  15. Started her up and the reading didn't change on meter

  16. If you've only got one terminal, it'll be for the pressure gauge. You haven't got anything to drive the oil light.

  17. I'm glad I stripped em out to be honest
I'm not called simon for nothing (SIMPLE)

Yes thats the stock oil pressure switch facing the camera.
And it looks like the pressure sender also has the second terminal for an oil pressure switch - which comes on at higher pressure (too high for this kind of engine)

Looking at the air filter - I bet when it runs its all juddery and makes the spark plugs black. You have the SoCal style air filter which is poor for for UK weather conditions with a progressive carb.

  20. No can you say that again in English !!!
