I would nt use loctite as they can be a sod to remove when they ve been on a while. But saying that, the quality that they are it won't be long before they be replaced. I ve got a Roulex joint in the parts bank. Alan Schofield, £40, good quality. Will do Bay,25 including Syncro. Got all the little extras we don't need.
Clean the flat faces so there's absolutely no grease on them that can squish. Then use new serrated washers (not spring washers), put your spreader plates on and just torque them up to the right value (28 lb/ft?). There's no earthly reason why they should come off. Loctite wouldn't work anyway, as there's so much grease around. Boots? Have a look in the concertina crevices to check for cracking - you might be ok. Unfortunately, rubber's the one thing that does deteriorate with age. Equally unfortunately, some of the new boots appear to be crap
GKN Lobro boots appear to be of good quality. I've got a pair that have lasted up to now five or six years. Think they came from JK.
^this. @fritt insists on using this new-fangled metric stuff The bolts aren't done up particularly tight, but if the washers and plates are there they won't come undone.
