CV Boots & Joints, advice for a first timer....

no mate, i had the original vw joints, and original vw boots by the looks of them.
cleaned it all up and put back together, they went back all matching, but not necessarily the same way around, so that may also be the issue.
Eurocarparts seem to have tracked down a set of GKN Lobro OEM shafts with CVs for £210 all in

 

was a bit scored but not blue.
i think the issue was the way the joints went back together, all matching so the correct balls etc, but not in the same orientation.
there is no rubbling when turning by hand under the bus, but when driving it is a new noise since the refurb!

 

One point to remember on re assembly .

 

that should be in the haynes book!
