CSP slim nuts

Discussion in 'Mech Tech' started by snotty, Jan 13, 2016.

  1. Are they the future? I believe they are. I can actually get a spanner in to do my exhaust up.

On offer at M7, if you're interested...

  2. Slim Nuts:eek:

  3. Pfnarr. They've big flanges as well. Snort.

  4. I cant recall having any troubles with the nuts before:thinking:
But they may be worth fitting to save future hassles

  5. search for K nuts also.....these can be had with a reduced AF, flange, hi tensile and High temp applications...

  7. Depends on what your exhaust and/or manifolds are like. Folk who design these things seem to give no consideration to folk who actually have to do them up with a spanner. On my JK stainless, one pipe starts bending almost straight from the flange - tightening them up's a nightmare...

  8. They're really meant for the manifold to head studs... You'll find they'll go rusty quite quickly on the exhaust as it'll burn the plating off :)

  9. Needs must, mate. We'll see if they hold. Straight M8s just didn't hold the exhaust on - it was blowing like a good 'un, judging by the soot on the old gaskets.

  11. where is the fun in that?

  12. Just a thought

If those nuts corrode and the stud starts winding out
Is there enough room to fully wind the stud out

  13. There is. The studs are stainless anyway, and have hex key-holes in the ends.

I may put brass washers on, just to make sure I've got as many dissimilar metals as possible ;)...

You simply undo the other nut in step just like how you do up the JK stainless exhaust. Because there is no room to get even a skinny nut off the stud even without the stud coming out as well.

  15. Stainless studs in an alloy head is asking for trouble

I did spot the hex heads
Much posher than hack sawing a bit of threaded bar

you need some Inconel nuts :D

  17. You may right. However, I've had stainless on the old engine for years, with no probs. Any stainless bits I put get lashings of Copaslip.
