CSP bellcrank kinkage and type 4 with IDFs

Discussion in 'Mech Tech' started by oildrips, Aug 6, 2014.

  1. Has anyone had success using the CSP bellcrank linkage on a type 4 with IDFs? I can't seem to get it set up right. The throttle cable seems to be on a really bad angle, and I'm not getting enough movement in the throttle levers on the carbs.

What mods were were required/what am I doing wrong?

  3. Thank you for this. Was a modification required to the cable location or the rods?

  4. Yours is like this?

Does the cable go "downhill" too much before reaching the linkage?

  5. Do you have a photo of how you've got yours set up??

  6. Yes it's up there ^^^^^.
Oh! You didn't mean me Paul?

  7. No dude... I know what yours looks like

  8. I actually took it back off and swapped a bugpack linkage on that I don't like. I've been thru CB, Bugpack, SCAT and CSP at this point. Are the rods long enough out of the package?

  9. I modded mine after the Dyno revealed it wasn't quite getting full throttle but the biggest difference by far was made by putting Rose joints on the linkage at the pedal end, are you LHD or RHD?

  10. @oildrips what carb manifolds are you using?

  11. LHD. Rose joints? I'm curious now to the setup.

  12. I'm not sure what kind of manifolds. I do have CB ones at the house that are on the shelf.
    I'm using a pair I got from a friend.

  13. Ok... what exact issues are you having with the csp linkage?

  15. It takes all the slack out of the throttle and gives about 30% more cable movement!!!!

  16. I'm not getting full throttle. And that linkage with the rose joints looks fabulous!

  17. Your profile doesn't say where you are?
There's plenty of linkages here if you want to get one.
Do that 1st then try the CSP again.
The other Mod you may have to do is to turn the CSP upside down, I can send photos if it's necessary, mine is absolutely perfect now. :)

  18. I'd love to see pics.

  19. You can see how the rose joint linkage works, it's also adjustable to suit, which is a bonus.
My bus outside so I'll go take a photo and post it up with a before and after if I can.

  20. Before:- As you can see the cable run was downwards and almost fouled the link arm, the angle was actually much worse than it looks.

After:- I've turned the whole thing upside down, made an aluminium stand and the cable run is now straight and nothing fouls.

    Hope this helps? :)
