Going to be taking my Bay from London to Preston on the 22nd November for its interior refit . I've never driven it any great distance before . Would would be a realistic comfy motorway speed ? It's a 2l type 4 with standard size wheels and tyres .
I always avoid motorways and enjoy a more relaxed journey. Normally only do a max of about 65 on straight bits.
i think your know what you feel comfortable with , everyone knows if they are thrashing an engine ,what ever it is really . just keep an eye on temps n enjoy the ride id say .
I've got a 2l. Seems to enjoy being at around 60-65. Any faster and there's a lot of rattling going on.
60-65 is fine for me , I'm a cruiser not a bruiser . My Anglia sits fine at 65 , it'll go a lot quicker but the noise becomes unbearable !
I'm happy to plod along at 50 though that can get a bit boring at times so up it to 60, 65, 70, 75... Then remember its an old vintage slow down to 50 again and let the rest of the traffic catch up. I'd stick to around 60 if you can but your mind and foot tend to drift... Especially if you have satnav on and you end up clock watching
Ive got the T4 2.0L and 60-65 is just right - any more and you'll have to turn the radio up quite a bit!
Depends how much fuel you want to use, pushing 70 you'll get there 20 mins sooner but use loads more. Plus if you're going up the M6 you'll be doing no more than 40 most of the way anyhow
varies - 65 (indicated) is comfortable gets noisy above that and then goes quiet around 85!. Only joking but i do get bored sometimes. 65 is good and shouldnt stress the motor tooo much.
