Crossover Indicator Switch

Discussion in 'Mech Tech' started by Owen Snell, Jun 27, 2012.

  1. I've fitted the replacement indicator switch from VWH after the first one failed to work completely, the crossover switch which is different to the normal late bay switch. I'm not impressed with the quality of these repalcement parts (especially considering the £130 price tag), but it will have to do for now as no indicators = no MoT. Long term, are there any better alternatives available?

  7. Is there no chance of converting your controls to prototype bay style? Prop a lot easier to find used bits.

  8. Hi, found this discussion via google, I have a 1972 type 2 bay and the indicator arm sheared off about three weeks ago. The rest of the unit is in good nick.
Davidoft, I was wondering if you would be open to doing a repair?
Any and all advice really welcome, im desperate to get the van back on the road.
    Thanks

  10. On the VWH pattern part it's the switch unit itself that's pants, so I would try and salvage yours if at all possible.

  11. Have you actually removed the switch from the column to see if you can do anything with it?

  12. Hi, i got the unit off the column and took apart the plastic housing. However, there is a very hefty spring in there and at that point i thought i would do more harm than good if i continued.

  17. Hi, I'm up in Edinburgh. Our Van is looked after by Gary Burgess, he was the main man with John Forbes for many years and he is now working for himself. Great on mechanicals.
