Whilst ( if ) it is rebuilt it cannot be the same, there are many examples of demolition and rebuild which , perhaps , a bit “ false” at least try to keep a semblance of heritage. It appears that many wagons took rubble away , whether many of the original bricks remain?
But yes orders like this send a message …if enforced.

Certainly more people, cars and trucks …..not too sure about reservoirs, schools and hospitals ( most of the latter are still in Boris Johnson’s alternative world ). Houses , certainly more but not what is needed.

The local counsel at Matlock are sending letters to landowners on the perimeter of towns asking if your land is available where it butts up to the last local plan Green or brown for development .
From all the years i have been travelling down to Kieth's Field in the last 10 years or so , i have noticed expanding development on every single town or village from leaving the M40 Stratford island all they way down to Burford .

But they will be coming is what i mean ..as they will be needed . Have you noticed how low reservoirs get in summer regardless of a dry summer ...more land loss and guaranteed green belt , can't have them on contaminated ground .

They aren’t helping with that when they build houses though Ewan, just take the profit and move on. Short term it helps the economy a bit but long term it leaves a huge bill for the local taxpayer re providing the things you mentioned!

But it is the increased population that determines expansion from all corners .

I get that fully and understand the need for expansion but it can’t just be wealthy companies making money from the tax payer and not addressing the other issues. Have you read about persimmon homes and the other big construction companies making huge profits from the help to buy schemes?

I did wonder if the building on the Orgreave site, covering a hillside with houses ( and renaming it Waverley) had an effect on the flooding in Catcliffe (which should be renamed Atlantis).

Wow … Persimmon Homes…. They were my most hated Developer when I acted for buyers from their developments. So much so that ( at a loss) I decided not to act for “ new build “ buyers from this company.
Casting aside any “ lease hold “ issues, Persimmon sold Freehold properties with restrictive covenants . Eg “ no extensions, conservatories etc” without approval . ( not to be unreasonably withheld )….. so a buyer alerted to an added “ conservatory “ would / should have seen approval. Obviously owners not requiring PP or bldg regs wouldn’t have this…….
So Seller was required to seek “ retrospective consent”… Persimmon ( and others ) would pass it to their relevant Dept . They would often ask for plans, not always, but the fee was always there , from recollection about £150 ….. Total sheisters.. Has anybody seen what their CEO earned last year ? Please google it.
Sorry rant over but this shafting has to stop.

Never heard of Persimmon homes ,they are all relatively small time developers around here some big but not to a massive colossos . But we are close to the Peak Park and they are seriously strict on housing and even they are letting things go .
The bigger ones around us have to build school extensions ,playgrounds ,low cost houses within the development plan as i think with most , but is low cost really low cost .

The price of land is what doesn't help for low cost housing . But building materials have rocketed making them dearer ..builders wages gone up , regs are more stiffer now , the profit margin is not the same as it was in the past i shouldn't wonder ...hence the packing them close together smaller gardens .

Over population is and will get worse in the future which in turn will have a massive effect pointing towards country's being unsustainable , but mankind blames everything else but himself when it becomes all to late .

Every other town is dying on its feet why not convert those empty shops and offices into living accommodation it already has the infrastructure and doesn’t need building as it’s already built?

  16. 500 houses gone up on the fields at the back of our house in the last 2 years despite objections -But we have had 45 years of nice country views I suppose - however, no new schools in the planning and doctors and dentists with waiting lists etc.
