Not everything is crooked, but a happy day when the people who demolished the Crooked House Pub have been ordered to rebuild it as it was within 3 years.....
Yes an excellent bit of news but, the originality of the pub will be lost surely as most of the features will have been destroyed?
I can’t see how they can rebuild it. I went there a few times over the years as it’s local to me and would sit and marvel at the crookedness and the ingenuity that overcame the failings and made it work. It wasn’t a pub to get drunk in and keep your sanity!
What should happen to those that did this is to stop them trading in any guise, re building the pub is a start to their punishment but it should only be part of it, as they blatantly flouted the law on many occasions!
Havent they got a reputation for demolishing historic buildings regardless of the rules (I cant think of the other examples)

The Russians rebuilt the old Warsaw town brick by brick to the old design after the war based on old photos etc, so it can be done. However, I bet they appeal the judgement.
It is the Black Country and when the yam yams am angry I reckon any appeal will bring further retribution. I’m with you though, they will appeal!
They’re an arrogant lot the people that did this Mark. I vaguely know them from my time on farm bulkers locally and always felt they thought they were a bit above the law!
The word Deliberate is always associated with demolition of buildings , at least the crooked house will be rebuilt all be it not twisted but this is nothing compared to the monasteries that were wanton destroyed by poxed up King Henry . And not forgetting the 1,200 beautiful halls and Manors due to death duties enforced by the then government in 1945 and worse still in 1950 with the government knowing full well of the destruction that was taking place . Unfortunately there is some building all over the UK getting demolished uneccesarily of some architectural merit all the time . The beautiful 7 arched viaduct on the Ashbourne to Buxton line demolished ...a so called accident my A ... a pathetic foot bridge was its replacement . The viaduct was only 80 years old built in the hardest of Staffordshire high fired Blue bricks with gritstone coping stones . They couldn't be bothered to fit safety rails and a watchful eye on it as is done on the beautiful Monsal Head viaduct, which i am sure some on here have walked over .

The government and local authorities turn a blind eye, those with money think they’re special and it goes unquestioned. Worse than this and far more damaging to our countryside is this relaxing of green belt restrictions on housing, the area of natural beauty being destroyed and the greed behind it is astounding.
We have the same issue near us in Huthwaite. What was a rural part of Notts, near the M1 was almost compulsory purchased for HS2. Suddenly 850 houses are being talked about & locals fighting this off.
More People more houses ,more reservoirs , more schools ,more hospitals ,more cars ,more trucks ,it goes on .
