Crankshaft/Flywheel oilseal

  1. Hi
Removed old crankshaft oil seal and replaced it with new, I have replaced the flywheel now but worried I might of put the seal in to deep, the old one was flush with crankcase lip, the new one i have pushed all the way into the recess shoulder, does anyone know if this is ok? I cant picture how far back it was running on the flywheel.

  2. I would try it and see ,should be ok...

  3. All the way in is where it's supposed to be.. Leaving it proud is a get around when the flywheel becomes grooved from the oil seal..

So check your flywheel for a wear groove

Did you do the O ring as well?

  5. Thanks Paul
The Flywheel is good with no groove just a slight marking.
So do you push the seals fully in so they hit the back of the recess and are below the crankcase surface as i have?

  6. Thanks

  7. Yes replaced the O ring and cleaned/re oiled the felt wadding seal.

  10. As long as the seal's in square and bearing on a nice fresh bit of crank, should be fine.
