    If it was being rebuilt due to fire damage to, say the heads I wouldn't see a particular reason to suspect the fire had damaged the bottom end, so it wouldn't necessarily get done on the insurance. If you could show the engineer eg that burnt stuff could have got in the crankcase, that's another thing - that's what I'd have tried to agree. That way ins co pays for the labour, and I'd have asked Lobie for the shell money - a pittence for a full rebuild.
     
  3. just spoke to my mechanic and he thinks the oil pump may have failed there is definitly oil in the engine at the bottom hes going to take the bottom end apart later in the week and see what the extent of the damage is , he says there may be a possiblity of rebuilding the bottom end

    fingers crossed

    hopefully i will soon have a very nice bus that runs like a dream

    and may be able to get to some shows this year , as last year was a right off

  5. want to keep the 1600 air cooled lump as it adds to the originality but i will defenitly be getting a oil pressure gauage fitted
