Dicky, I did the rooflining in my sunroof bus (its the same aperture) with a TMI headlining kit, so no ply but you would need some bows and its quite expensive (about £200) so maybe not such a good idea, but it does give you covering for the pillars and you dont have the metal channel to worry about.
