correct ign coil?

  1. what say you peeps re my reading in Bentley manual that with an electronic ign system (mine by p/o >aftermarket) if fitting a coil it must be specific to said system(which makes sense)>me, not knowing what system is on my campe (009 dizzie)r i carry a basic £16 GFS coil,is that a "lost cause?" should i bin it and lay out for a.n.other coil being more specific to system?(a "ballasted" coil?), any /all advice welcome, ta.
     
  2. No, your GSF coil will be fine...

    specific coils for electronic ignition, are just for factory installed systems :thumbsup:

    Unless you have a high performance ignition kit then it need a lower resistance coil


    Standard points and basic electronic ignition need a coil with over 1.5 ohm resistance


    A high performance electronic kit needs a coil with less than 1.4 ohm


    2 systems that look the same but have different requirements its not to say it wont work if you get it wrong but it will not work as well and will shorten the life
