Correct battery size?

can anyone tell me the correct battery size for a 1600 bay? Mine is a 40 a/hr but I think it's just died!

 

043 which is 45a/h. You can fit a bigger one, 063 is a favourite.

edit - not 063, my memmory is going...

 

Think i squeezed in a 60 a/h one - one of the few good halfrauds purchaces i`ve made ...
40 ah is a very small battery , both physically and power wise .

 

096 is the biggest@zed

 

So 40 a/hr is a bit weedy then zed?

 

It's fine actually, but bigger seems popular. Pretty sure 45A/h is the standard recommended battery - it says in Haynes somewhere.

 

Haynes manual was where I looked first. Electrical, specifications, nothing!

I'm not sure why people want bigger with 1600 as it's only to start it.

 

Mine ran everything until last year when i got soft , fitted a propex and needed a leisure
battery ....
Previously , if i was out an` about , i`d be in a field for at least 3 days between shifts and ran lights , music , odd TV night when the TourDeFrance was running or a Grand prix was being
shown . Never struggled to start the van - last one was replaced about 8 years ago - 3rd battery in 20 + years

063 or 065 is std size

 

That's how you do it. I'm a big pansy and have a real panic about batteries running out.

 

Do I need to worry about charging the bigger battery? My engine still uses the old generator.

 

It'll be fine. It'll just take longer to reach full charge, but you won't notice.

 

Only if you discharge it more but it takes what it takes to start the engine whatever the battery.
