Read that too. He rates them doesn't he but they're not cheap but not as expensive as a new cylinder head...!

  2. Exactly, It's easy to overheat them, poor maintenance, thermostat, labouring the engine, plus we are all trying to make more power, twin carbs, exhausts etc, etc. All means more heat.

I'm not convinced by that to be honest.
Maintain them and they'll happily run for ever, in climates a lot hotter than ours!

  4. Baysearcher, you are right, i ran mine for years with no gauge and no problems. However the heads seem to be the weak point and i personally like to keep an eye on them. I guess it's all down to personal choice, your either into gauges or your not.

I have to admit I've got a rev counter now.
My engine isn't exactly stock though.

  6. Where did you get the gauge from? Thinking about getting one myself.

  7. I've not had thermostat for years too, made sure the flaps were open all the time and not had any problems overheating, have fitted oil temp gauge too, but I don't drive hard, 55mph tops.

  8. Ive just ordered one from Dakota themselves in the good old USA. Its 150 dollars plus tax so not cheap (I just love gadgets)

  9. Same as bertie, ordered direct from the states. Wasn't too bad till customs added there bit !

    Hi,
does anyone have a picture of all the undertin fitted to a T4 engined bay or can point me in the right direction? I've got several diagrams of the individual parts but am confused (easily done) as to what fits where.
    Thanks

That's brilliant, many thanks Paul. I've been let down by a seller for the undertins and need to check what I've got. Do your undertins fit a Californis spec engine which I think i may have?

Feel free to pop round and take a look at mine if you want.

  14. They fit Euro spec heat exchangers... not the US triangular flange ones :)
