I have a Westy with belly pans and want to fit a little 13 row cooler and wondered if anyone else had done this?
Fit it behind the belly pans, bottom of front level with underside of pans, angle slightly down at the back and it'll cool fine. Too much probably, I have mine blocked off most of the time. It's your heads that'll get too hot if you thrash it and though the cooler will help a bit you don't want it over-cooling when you're driving normally. Even with mine blocked off the temp won't get up high enough pottering around at 50mph.
did you read the thread about sandwich plates and stat valves the other day.....? looks like a win win for £40 odd quid
only putting one on because LP has said to as part of my build. I am fitting a stat before the cooler. Considered a sandwich plate but want to keep the number of hoses in the engine bay to a minimum.
How does that work then? Surely it'll stop the oil going round your engine altogether if Lauries full flowing it.
The stat sends the oil back the block without going through the cooler. It has 4 hose connections filter, cooler in/out and block.
Oil stat has 4 connections.. to and from engine, and oil cooler feed and return... when the stat is closed, the oil is diverted back to the engine
